Loop Dreams

The photo was taken at the Banks residence in sunny Midlothian, VA in probably 2007. The intruder was summarily captured and hauled away via paddy wagon.

Happy new year! I wrote the main riff and bass line the night of the Geminid Meteor Shower in mid-December and recorded it the day after the lunar eclipse a few weeks ago. Nerdy, yeah, but it sure explains the spacy feel it it.

I really cannot stand the sound quality and I almost rerecorded it, but I also really enjoy the random sounds that came out on the first take…if you can bear the outro (which should have been really cool), everything prior to it is very soothing and ambient.

Just a simple loop, not much to it but a lot of fun to make.

This one has been kicking around for a while…I wrote the riff and the solo section while watching a woman dumpster dive in my backyard when I lived in Harrisonburg during the summer of 2009. I gave her saltine crackers and a Capri Sun.

It’s way too long but I really was hoping to develop it into something massive on this session. I was not successful. Some would say “forced”, I’d just say “boring”. Regardless, I see good things for this progression and bass line in the future. Enjoy!

Here is the second upload of my project. It’s weird…I was experimenting both with heavy delay and odd time signatures. These will get better, I promise. Enjoy!

This is the first upload for my new project, curiously and temporarily titled, “Loop Dreams”. I will upload a brand new loop every now and then over the course of the next few months in an effort to get my ideas recorded so that one day they may be cultivated into actual songs, rather than endlessly meandering bits of “music”. 

This post isn’t perfect (it was all in one take), but each week I hope to marginally improve to the point of listenability. Thanks for listening.
